Biography
Choirboys are an enduring staple of Australia’s pub rock scene since 1978, with their seminal rock anthem “Run To Paradise” still as relevant today. Choirboys are renowned for a great live show. It’s not just the music, it’s the atmosphere and the humorous banter they bring. The grafting, sweating, pulverizing, pounding, screaming – doing what they do best. Entertaining an audience by spilling their hearts and souls onto the stage.
CHOIRBOYS are now an essential part of our Australian culture having penned one of this countries unofficial anthems “Run To Paradise”. They epitomise the essence of the Australian pub culture scene and have secured their place in Australian music history and are viewed by many as the quintessential Australian rock band. With the tag of being an ‘Iconic Australian Heritage Band’ the terms perennial, exciting, exuberant and thoroughly entertaining are still used to describe what CHOIRBOYS are all about. It is a fact that CHOIRBOYS have been entertaining the young and old for 30 years, that they have sold multi-platinum albums and that they have survived when so many others have fallen. CHOIRBOYS have achieved legendary status in Australia and not just because of their longevity; they have also achieved this because they deliver time and time again.
So why stay around so long? “Because we bloody love it”, says singer Mark Gable. “CHOIRBOYS is exactly the kind of band that I always wanted to be in as a kid”, “so why not keep on doing it till you die?” Mark says with much enthusiasm. “It is so much fun being in this band”, he adds. The last 24 months has been extremely exciting, with the band concentrating on major corporate events in Australia and overseas. Mark became the host of the Vega Sunday Session aired on Vega 95.3FM and has also become an ambassador for ‘Beyond Blue’ The Depression Initiative. This has only served to enhance and expand the band’s future. With their music embedded in Australian culture, with hits such as ‘Run To Paradise’, ‘Boys Will Be Boys’, ‘Struggle Town’ and ‘Never Gonna Die’, CHOIRBOYS are a part of Australian history. CHOIRBOYS and their music have found their way into our hearts, ears and minds and will be a part of our lives for a long time to come. To celebrate the three decades that CHOIRBOYS have persisted, and existed, the band is about to embark on its 30th anniversary tour ‘NEVER GONNA DIE’, their first major tour since 2004. The tour will support the release of the 30th anniversary album ‘NEVER GONNA DIE’ The Very Best Of through Warner Music.
