If you thought punk was dead, get ready for some second coming shit from Jones The Cat.
The Novocastrian group have already established themselves as ones to watch with their infectious live show and the gathered acclaim of audiences and critics alike. With hefty bass lines and the gain turned way up, it isn’t just their sweaty tenacity that places Jones The Cat as some of best punk coming out of Australia right now.
Drawing parallels with Luca Brasi, The Used and PUP, Jones The Cat will pull you back to a golden era of punk rock with their thrashed out tracks. Formed in 2013, Jones The Cat is comprised of Hunter natives Jack Waterson (Guitar, Vox) Cameron Macey (Guitar, Vox), Jarrod Wilton (Bass, Vox) and Tristan Lacey (Drums). Earning their stripes on the stage, today sees the band thrashing out chugging riffs and angst ridden vocals, reminiscent of classic punk records and the attitude of 2000’s punk rock. All doused in an inescapable Aussie inflection, true to their regional roots.
In 2017, Jones The Cat took the winning spot at the UniSounds Grand Final event. Beating out hundreds of entries from all over Australia, the band was selected for the top prize of an international recording package with Dine Alone Records. October, 2018 saw the Hunter outfit release a Double A-Side single, the record was produced under the expert ears of ARIA winning Peter Holz and Simon Berckelman. This is to be followed up in early 2019 with an E.P., marking their inaugural release from Dine Alone Records in connection with the label’s partnership with UniSounds.
