At just 25, Kim Churchill has already achieved some incredible things in his short time as a professional musician. He’s recognised as much internationally as he is in Australia, having performed headline shows, festivals and supports alike all over the planet. Notable performances include Falls Festival, Billy Bragg (North America & Europe), Leo Kottke, Montreal Jazz, Telluride Blues, Glastonbury and a plethora of festivals. Since the inception of his career, Kim has been acknowledged as a formidable force to be reckoned with. In the early sun-drenched days of 2009, Kim traversed Australia in a campervan, undertaking a musical journey to share and connect with the Australian musical landscape. Known for his magnetic, dynamic stage presence, Kim unites lyrical artistry with fierce vocals; he is a sonic architect – using his guitar to create landscapes, which animate his lyrics. Late 2014 saw Kim Churchill release his fourth studio recording Silence/Win –a preeminent collection demonstrating maturity and depth of song writing unparalleled by his previous works. The paradoxically titled release showcased Kim Churchill’s melodic, contemporary, blues and folk sides. Recorded in Vancouver, the 13-track album was produced by legendary heavyweight Warne Livesey (Midnight Oil, Matthew Good). In 2015 the single “Window to the Sky” became an anthem for summer adventures and an instant festival favourite – Kim continued to tour Australia and abroad, notably selling out headline shows and supporting Nahko and the Medicine People throughout Europe and the UK. Drawing inspiration from his time in Europe and sojourns to Sri Lanka and Canada – Kim is currently putting the final touches on his next record – due for release in late 2016.
