Biography

Assembled with a teaspoon of drunken debauchery and two cups of brotherly love, Lost Tropics have surfed around the state doing what they love – playing raw, high energy rock’n’roll shows.

Born out of the back alleys of Sydney’s southern beaches, this psychedelic surf-rock quartet are coming at ya! With influences ranging from Hockey Dad to Tame Impala, Lost Tropics blend the surf-esque jangle of their guitars with psychedelic synth pads sweeter than syrup. The boys infuse their youthful energy into the music through thunderous drum fills, dynamic vocals that switch from smooth to screeching effortlessly, and aggressive fuzzed out guitars that’ll blow your speakers out.

In March 2019, Lost Tropics dropped their debut EP In Technicolour, produced by Chris Collins (Gang of Youths, Skeggs, Ruby Fields), which saw fans scrambling to get tickets to their next show. Described as “surf rock and then some,” lead singles “La La Land” and “Sun Soaked” appealed to the masses over at Unearthed and FBi Radio, and saw venues in Cronulla and the Inner West reach capacity whenever the boys hit the stage. Lost Tropics played two showcases at Australian Music Week 2019, performing on the huge Western Sydney University Beach Stage and winning the BHSS Showcase competition.

“Like a big surging wave of heady coastal fuzz and garage riffs, Lost Tropics’ debut EP In Technicolour meets the shore in an impressive whitewash, launching the band forwards and demanding to be noticed.”Mia Hull, Happy Mag
