Australian duo PLGRMS, today release their new single ‘Dream You Up’, via Sony Music Entertainment Australia.
‘Dream You Up’ is a welcome return from the Sydney based pair Jonathan Bowden and Jacob Pearson of PLGRMS – whose spritely, effervescent electronic sounds have gained a reputation for being some of the most inventive and exhilarating electronic music coming out of Australia. “Our music is serious in nature, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Like a brooding message written with a highlighter pen.”
Amassing over 5 million streams across their 3 singles to date – with previous support from the likes of Stereogum, The Line Of Best Fit, and Clash Magazine – along with encouraging airplay from triple j, Beats 1, BBC 6 Music, and more – new single ‘Dream You Up’ is set to propel PLGRMS to even greater heights.
Showing another side to their creations — through a darker, more brooding sound compared to previous singles, ‘Dream You Up’ stands up to its name, both in its sound and lyrics. Jonathan’s skittering, and often grandiose electronic production marries together seamlessly with singer Jacob’s warm, impressive vocal work.
Speaking on the lyrical meaning behind the track, Jacob Pearson from the band explains: “When there’s mystery behind something or someone, it’s so interesting and intriguing. By nature we just can’t help ourselves and want to find out what it is. It’s the anticipation and the thrill of what we don’t understand. I’ve gone through it, but when you unveil the truth, the magic just disappears. So, it’s about stopping yourself from understanding it completely, so that thrill can hang around a bit longer.”
In conjunction with the release of ‘Dream You Up’, PLGRMS head out on a national tour this week in support of Vera Blue. This is the duo’s third Australian tour in six months, following their own headline tour and support of Mansionair last year.
PLGRMS is the Sydney-based duo of singer-songwriter Jacob Pearson and multi-instrumentalist songwriter/producer Jonathan Bowden.
